Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree of English literature. Mitchell started her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. She joined the CBS subsidiary WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She became a Washington general reporter to NBC News two years later. 1981 she started covering for the White House, and in 1988 she was appointed the chief congressional correspondent. In 1992, she was made Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell was a guest as a guest on TV news show Meet the Press as a host and panelist. Mitchell was a part of a panel discussion at the 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times for journalism excellence, including her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award by Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell began covering the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable news stories throughout the years, such as the tax reforms, budget reforms, and the Iran Contra affair. She travelled frequently along with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
